I'm going to assume the first 4 reviewers were either close friends or relatives of the author because this book was NOT as great as they claimed. Don't get me wrong, I feel like there could be potential for this author but this particular story just had too much going on. First the need to get married to meet a deadline (which was expected) end the heroine's desire to get pregnant. Next there was the whole awkward dynamic between Caroline and her family along with a looming loan shark element-- really? LOAN SHARKS? Am I in a mafia film? And then toss in the crazy too-obnoxious-to-be-believable ex-girlfriend--seriously, why are romance writers still using this as a plot device in the 21st century? It has been DONE! On top of all that, there were a few places that could have used some editing and while that may not bother the average reader, it is a pet-peeve of mine. The story overall had potential and I probably would have enjoyed it much more if some of the other elements had been left out. I just couldn't allow other potential buyers to make their purchase (as I did) solely based on the four other overly-positive ( and likely somewhat biased) reviews.

I was surprised by how good this book was. I'll admit it took a few chapters to get into it. And after paying $5 I was determined to finish it LOL. I'm glad I did. It was sweet. Not full of sen scenes either. well written. I'll be looking for more from this author.

Gina Baaklini Hogan is a tenured professor in the English department at Citrus Community College in Glendora, California. She has developed and taught developmental English courses, trained and mentored faculty in teaching developmental writing, and helped create Citrus College's Writing Across-the-Curriculum Center. She is the Chair of the College Success Committee, a committee that advocates the core principles of Citrus' developmental program. Gina has an MS in Business Administration and an MA in English Composition and Literature and is currently working on a doctorate in Education (Ed.D). Gina is a naturalized citizen of the United States, and English is her third language. She understands the challenges inherent to learning effective communication skills, and her passion is helping others learn to write clearly and to appreciate the English language.

Short and Exceedingly Sweet

This is my favorite discourse book by Paramahamsa Nithyananda. It is a collection of question and answers. His answers are incredibly beautiful and uplifting and the insights (clicks as he likes to call them) abound and are transforming. I love being able to pick it up and in just a few pages feel touched and transformed at the deepest level of my being.

This is a very well done introduction to conversational Arabic. The pattern of repetition and method of breaking down words has made it possible to gain rapid familiarity with a useful basic vocabulary. I have used Pimsleur before with another language and certainly will again.

This book is beyond excellent. With stories told by numerous pilots and crew alike you get a great all around aspect of what they had to endure. From harrowing missions to standard flight all seem to end up riveting you to the action. The stories will tell you how these men served their country at war, while helping each other to survive. Nothing is left out of their stories and one can not only read into their concern and love for their fellow aviators but actually feel their emotions come to life within yourself. Reading these stories, you'll be glad they took the time to make known what they accomplished to survive. We must be proud that men such as they served our country. Thank you each for you service and sharing your "private" stories. To those that didn't survive, God Bless and thank you for your supreme sacrifice.

A must read for all couple therapists

This is a powerful and profound book. It is a guide into the world of couple work that is simple, clear, easy to read, and compelling.
Toni and her co-authors present the reader with a therapy concept and then show how to use it through written dialog from actual sessions. These sessions show Toni to be a compassionate, direct clinician who skillfully helps her clients into difficult or often hidden terrain. The book shows how this work leads to healing in each individual and in the couple and it clearly lays out the steps of how to achieve this. Reading this book has already benefited my work with couples. I highly recommend it.

Highly Recommended and Easy to Follow Read on Working with Couples

Well written and easy to follow manual on applying Internal Family Systems Therapy to working with couples. One of the things I liked best is that Toni, et. al. operationalize the steps in working with couples in an easy to follow manner. They guide you through the processes of joining with the couple, tracking the couple dance,and helping the couple get underneath their protective covers and connect with their needs and vulnerabilities which allows for improved communication and relational healing. I was very impressed with the authors' perspective on shame and how to understand its affects on the couple's relationship. They describe shame as a two part process with both a shamer and the shamed--but not just between partners but also happening within each partner! I've been working with couples for 20+ years and this book is one of the best I've read. Even if you are unfamiliar with the Internal Family Systems model of therapy, I suspect this book will still deepen your understanding on working with couples and it will provide you with the tools needed to guide you through the treatment process.

Loving this book! Toni and her co-authors present the material clearly, cogently and with great insight into the complexity of working with couples. The book is extremely well written making it easy to connect theory with practice and many helpful, practical tips. A great guide for therapists working with couples or individuals working with relationship issues.
