The African Slave Trade

Between the fifteenth and the nineteenth centuries the African continent earned the name "Black Mother" because of the seemingly inexhaustable supply of humanity exported to work the mines and plantations of the western hemisphere. Basil Davidson has re-created the story of the slave trade, highlighted by excerpts from the documents of historian, explorers, and other annalists of the period. This rich and thorough account, by the author of the prizewinning Lost Cities Of Africa, was originally published in 1961 under the title of Black Mother.

Africa under different lens

This book is from 1961 and compare very well against many other books about Africa. I do recommend this book for people that want to have a view "from the African side" of the tragedy. Mr. Basil Davidson made a magnific job.
